The morning aarti at Assi Ghat, popularly known as Subah-e-Banaras, is a soulful experience that blends spirituality, nature, and culture. Launched on November 24, 2014, by the Honorable Minister of State of Uttar Pradesh, this initiative was established to celebrate the divine atmosphere of Varanasi’s mornings and to bring together people of all backgrounds to embrace its spiritual energy.

Ganga Aarti: A Divine Display of Devotion

The Ganga Aarti at Assi Ghat is a mesmerizing display of faith, tradition, and divine energy. Every detail, from the attire of the priests to the synchronized rituals, reflects deep spiritual symbolism.

  • Ritual Highlights:

    • Priests dressed in traditional dhoti-kurta and gamcha

    • Setup includes five elevated platforms with ritual essentials:
      brass lamps, incense sticks, flowers, and the idol of Ganga Devi

    • Conducted by scholars of the Vedas and Upanishads under the guidance of the Gangotri Seva Samiti

    • Begins with lighting of brass lamps and blowing of conch shells (shankh)

    • Ends with camphor-lit aarti, filling the air with divine light and chants

The ritual not only purifies the surroundings but also leaves every attendee with a deep sense of peace, gratitude, and spiritual fulfillment. It’s a must-experience event for every visitor to Varanasi.
